We Aren’t Going Back To The Office In 2021 – 4 To 1 Ratio Of Workplace vs. Public Place Infection Rate

As of Monday, 6,242 cases of COVID-19 have been traced back to workplaces since the beginning of the pandemic.

In comparison, the number of cases linked to recreational settings, such as heavily-restricted gyms, bars and restaurants, is 1,404.

Workplace watchdogs and labour groups say the Ontario government’s failure to address this in its latest plan jeopardizes hundreds of thousands of workers, their families, and the very success of the strategy.

In the Province of Ontario as of Monday December 21st : 6,242 cases traced back to the workplace vs 1,404 to recreational settings such as gyms, bars, restaurants.

Imagine if you are a Chief Legal / Chief Risk Officer – Are you going to advocate a return to work for all workers? What are the risks?

These risks just got considerably more complicated as a result of the UK and South African variant.

Combine that with the delays in getting the vaccine rolled out globally and their being debate as to what is actually herd immunity…..

No one in the developed world is going back to an office environment in large numbers in 2021.
